Can I use the RHS to light the path to my patio.

TOP
Of course you can, but please realize that the RHS is a commercial/industrial product, manufactured to the highest standards and intended for heavy-duty use.  Since the RHS is about 6 metres ( 22 feet ) high, it shouldn't be confused with those low-power and largely disposable 'accent lights' you might get at your local hardware store or garden supply. Generally speaking, the RHS is not a residential product.

What's so special about the RHS ?

TOP
In simplest terms, the RHS is a lighting standard which doesn't need outside electricity - it can be installed anywhere without digging trenches, cutting asphalt and concrete,  and installing expensive wires back to a power source.  It is imminently suitable for either new or retrofit installations.

There are many " LED and solar panel on a stick " low-end products, but the RHS is designed to the highest standards, is built to exacting tolerances, and is designed to give full lighting all night all year - it's not built as a short-term, inneffective, 'throwaway' gadget.

How long will the lights stay on ?
TOP

Depending which lamp option you select and how much light you need, the RHS will gather enough electricity to keep the lights on for a minimum of 13 hours - all night. This Document explains Illumination Duration more completely.

How does the Video Camera Option work ?
TOP

The Renewable Energy electricity generated by the wind turbine and solar panels can also power an optional wireless Video Webcam.  The Webcam is installed inside the unit, behind a clear, weatherproof 'window'.  Because the whole RHS requires no external electricity, the light and Webcam will continue to operate indefinitely even in the case of a power interruption.

The Webcam transmits its images through the Internet/Web and the images can be viewed on your Internet-connected computer.

The RHS provides the electricity, but you can install virtually any standard security camera that is compatible with your security system. We recommend you speak to your existing security company for wireless options compatible with your existing system.  Hybridyne-RHS does not sell or supply cameras.

Is the RHS a Light Standard ?

TOP
Yes it is - and no, it's not.  The RHS comes supplied with an internal light fixture, but the light is not mandatory to the jobs that the RHS can do - some customers are using the RHS solely as a security or power platform, with the light disabled.

Can I use the RHS as a remote power source ?

TOP
The RHS is currently intended to generate its OWN power for running the lights and Webcam.

On the other hand, depending on the characteristics of the device you might wish to power 'in the field', it may be technically possible to design a solution - please let us know your requirements, and our engineering staff will address the issue.

In the near future, Hybridyne will be providing versions of the RHS with enhanced capabilities.

Can I use the RHS to charge up my Electric Car ?
TOP
Great idea !  Regrettably, the RHS ( as designed ) doesn't generate enough electricity to charge up electric cars or other large loads.

However, please stand by - the existing RHS is soon to be joined by a whole family of Autonomous Renewable Energy power supplies - each supplying power in a different range up to 5 KiloWatts.  We are designing these products now, and will let you know when they are available.

In the meantime, if you have a specific requirement, please feel free to Contact Us with your specifications - we may already have something on the drawing board - or we may be able to design something for your application..

Can I use the RHS run a very small electrical load ?
TOP
Yes, you can.  However if the load is very small, you'll probably be better off with one of our upcoming "mini" solutions.  For example, we are working on a 1-watt solution for the telecommunications industry.

These smaller units will be lower priced to match their lower power output.

Is the RHS an Uninterruptible Power Supply ( UPS ) ?
TOP
Yes it is - but much more.  Since the RHS is powered solely by Wind and Sunshine ( unlike traditional UPS's, which need to be plugged into the grid ) it is much more reliable and long-lasting.  The RHS will reliably deliver power for light, security, monitoring, or measurement - 24 hours a day, day after day, year after year. It will never shut down because the grid is dead or because it can't charge its batteries.

It's cold here - will the batteries survive ?
TOP
Unlike car batteries, or UPS batteries in a traditional application, the batteries in an RHS are never idle.  That is, they are always being charged by the wind and sunshine , and/or discharged by the light or other electrical load.  Batteries " in action " generate their own heat and are therefore not susceptible to freezing.

What enhancements to the RHS can be expected in the future ?
TOP
Hybridyne will be implementing several enhancements to the basic function of the RHS, including :
  • improved electronics for higher power yield
  • Nickel-Metal-Hydride Batteries - expected to last at least 10 years before replacement
  • long-life high-capacity Axion e3 power cell - to totally eliminate battery replacement, and further reduce the cost of ownership
  • motion sensing
    • any intruder is instantly ' spotlighted' with higher intensity
    • as employees ( for example ) return to their vehicles at night, extra illumination will 'follow' them
  • lockable 110/120V 50/60 Hz AC power outlet ( for remote operation of small electrical  equipment )
